What Is Christian Counseling?
Christian counselors recognize their work as redemptive and restorative in character. The Christian counselor brings the entire counseling enterprise under the lordship of Christ. He or she aims at reconciling the counselee’s relationship with God. This helps the counselee find personal significance and meaning in his or her relationship with Jesus Christ and facilitates the restoration of human relationships.
There is a profound difference in content and results between counseling based in God’s Word and secular therapy approaches. We offer real, effective Biblically-based counseling that provides permanent solutions to people’s problems in contrast to the symptom-focused psychotherapy so often found in the world or secularized “Christian Counseling” which ultimately does not look to God’s Word for solutions.
How does counseling work?
People seek counseling for many different reasons: a crisis, a loss, a major life change, to sort things out to have a happier life, or to improve relationships. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
Christian counselors understand that the Bible has a lot of practical wisdom about human nature, marriage and family, human suffering, and so much more. By using biblical concepts in counseling, they can instruct people in the way they should go and also hold them accountable. Psalm 119:24 says, “Your statutes are my delight; they are my counselors.”
A Christian counselor’s major strategy is to help their clients substitute biblical truth for error as they go about their day-to-day lives. They know that the truth, when known, believed, and obeyed, sets people free. When people are set free, they are fulfilling their true calling. “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32).
How Much Does Each Session Cost?
Each individual session costs $125. Marriage / Relationship counseling session cost $125 for 50 minutes and $200 for 100 minute sessions. The fee will be collected at the start of each session. Our groups are typically $50 per group session.
Will My Information Be Kept Private?
All of your conversations with me are completely confidential (except where mandated otherwise by law, as in the case of child abuse and/or elder abuse or imminent danger to yourself or others).
What if I have to cancel my counseling session?
There is no charge for any session cancelled 48 or more hours prior to the scheduled time. However, sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged the full session fee ($125 for 50 minute session / $200 for $100 minute session).
Will My Insurance Pay For My Counseling Session?
Many insurance plans reimburse for some portion of psychotherapy. Please direct questions about reimbursement amounts and timeliness to your insurance company. Hope Counseling Center does not contract (in network, preferred provider) with any insurance provider. I can provide a receipt for the counseling service at the time of the appointment that may be used to submit for reimbursements upon request. Please note that I do not complete any insurance paperwork.
Why Don’t You Accept Insurance?
Choice: YOU and your therapist are in charge of goals, length of treatment, and therapeutic choices.Savings: You pay less because we don’t spend valuable hours on insurance paperwork. Privacy:Insurance requires diagnosis to authorize treatment. These negative labels can follow a client through life and interfere with insurability later. Your files are NOT shared with anyone.
